About John Sumner

John Sumner is a North American painter, sculptor, author, and art world insider whose career spans more than four decades. Known for his bold use of colour, expressive compositions, and deeply atmospheric landscapes and seascapes, he has built a body of work grounded in technical craftsmanship and visual storytelling.

Alongside his studio practice, John has worked as a picture framer, art publisher, gallery owner, art dealer, and appraiser. He is also the creator and host of Finding Hidden Masterpieces and the author of Confessions of an Art World Insider and A No-Nonsense Guide to Buying Art
